Commonly Asked Questions

How much do services costs? Do you take insurance? How is payment accepted?

Currently, I am not paneled with any insurance companies. The Cortina Method (TCM) is a specialized intervention and investment is discussed during the free Discovery Call, where I will hear from you and decide if this approach is appropriate for your needs.  For traditional therapy, after the initial intake appointment, ongoing individual therapy sessions are $75/session. Credit cards and Venmo/PayPal are accepted for payment before and/or at the time of service.  In needed circumstances, there are different options for payment.  Many wonder what the benefit of self-pay is; it is important to understand that billing an insurance company requires providers to provide a diagnosis in order to be reimbursed, which includes sharing your presenting problem/diagnosis/treatment plan/prognosis. This becomes part of your permanent health record. By not billing insurance, this information is not shared with a third party. Self-pay also means you can find the best fit for your needs and concerns regardless of whether or not they are listed in your plan’s approved providers.

What should I expect during a TCM visit?

During the discovery call, what there is to resolve is identified and where the issue is stuck in the system is determined. From there we will schedule a visit. During the visit, I will do most of the talking but my guest is an active participant as well. The visit is comprised with the latest brain-based neuroscience findings, metaphors, storytelling, brain-based language, calming techniques, movement, and more. It is designed to get the maximum amount done in the minimum amount of time. The visits are typically 60 minutes to 2 hours. TCM is not ongoing therapy. Telehealth is offered for these visits. Why seek help and how can it help?

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, some times there are additional factors that can change and impact the brain causing difficulties in coping with new/recent experiences. There's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it, it takes strength and courage. It can help with new struggles or long-standing psychological issues, problems with anxiety or depression, and/or confusion with emotions. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life. It’s all about getting your life flowing more optimally.

What is traditional therapy like?
Every therapist and visit is unique and caters to each individual’s unique circumstances. It is standard for therapists to discuss the primary issues and concerns in your life during therapy sessions along with any information from your past that you feel may be pertinent. There may be times when you are asked to take certain actions outside of the therapy sessions to solidify the work done during sessions. It is very important to have a good connection with your therapist. I always encourage people to give a therapist three to four sessions to see if it would be a good fit and at that time if you feel like it is not a good fit then seek out another professional.
